One of the nicest events along Highway 17 occurred yesterday – the Annual Music and Oysters for Wildlife event to benefit the SEWEE Association. I mentioned this event about a week ago, and truth is, I can say enough good about this event and the association it supports. So I thought I’d follow up with a few photos from the afternoon – I didn’t take many because I was too busy eating, talking, and drinking! They couldn’t have asked for a nicer day.
There were, of course, plenty of oysters. And burgers and hotdogs and beer… and sunshine. And the music, as always, was wonderful., and included the Lincoln Middle/High School Steel Band, Ed Hunnicutt, the Red Dog Ramblers, Cravin’ Melon and Friends, Maggie Rose, and Danielle Howle with Fireworks Show. The music started right at 2 pm and was still going after dark!
Music and Oysters for Wildlife takes place every year right behind one of my favorite places to buy gas, a country ham biscuit and sweet tea – the SEWEE Outpost, and right by my favorite place to listen to music on a Wednesday night, the Barn Jams at Awendaw Green. I’m working on a Highway 17 “bucket list”, and this event in Awendaw, South Carolina is surely to be at the top of list.
