~Wood Storks at Roxbury Park in Meggett, South Carolina~
Update (November 2013): Check out the Q&A with Ken Carmen, Caretaker/Naturalist at Roxbury Park.
I was contacted this week by Ken Carmen, a manager at the soon-to-open Roxbury Park in Meggett, South Carolina. Roxbury Park is just a short detour off of Highway 17 in Charleston County – and opens this Saturday at 8:00 AM. It looks like a beautiful place! US 17 is doing a Q&A with Ken Carmen in the near future (and hopes to visit Roxbury Park next week) – but for now I just wanted to give you a head’s up that the park will open this weekend. Here is what Ken shared with me about Roxbury Park:
There is a brand new, beautiful and ecologically diverse park opening just a few miles from Highway 17. Roxbury Park will finally be open to the public starting Saturday morning, November 16th, at 8:00 AM. Located on the east side of Highway 174, just south of Toogoodoo Road, the park will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM. Roxbury is owned and manged by the town of Meggett. Although somewhat small at 156 acres, it boasts an amazing diversity of wildlife inhabiting eight distinct ecosystems. Roxbury is a photographers dream, and a hidden gem of the Lowcountry.
