The Shenandoah River, Berrys, Virginia… with Highway 17 overhead
Recently, when I made my pilgrimage to the Virginia end/beginning of Highway 17, I took a short detour down Swift Shoals Road (State Route 622, which is lovely, by the way). A very short way down Swift Shoals I drove under the Harry Flood Byrd Bridge (I think this is the bridge’s name) – and came across a great kayak and canoe landing (or small boats) – with a good-sized parking lot too.
It made me wish I had my kayak on the roof of my car so I could just slide it on in the water, but I suppose that will have to wait for another time. I spent a few days with good friends on the Shenandoah many moons ago – good times.
I have a thing for rivers.
