Gertrude S. Carraway Garden

The Carraway Garden was named in memory of Gertrude S. Carraway, The North Carolinian of 1962, who led the effort to restore Tryon Palace and served for many years as the first Director of the Tryon Palace Restoration. There is even a library named after her – the Gertrude S. Carraway Research Library.

The Carraway Garden is a parterre garden, and it is located directly behind the Waystation and Auditorium (map) on Pollock Street – and it is next to the Mary Kistler Stoney Garden at Tryon Palace.
