I’ve always loved maps. The older the better.
So naturally I’d fall for this map of Highway 17 meandering through North Carolina.
I found this one over at Discovering the Ocean Highway in North Carolina – it’s a 1953 Ocean Highway Tourism Map (from Chris Curley) that traces Highway 17 as it crosses the VA-NC border and heads toward Elizabeth City, passing through (just to name a few) Edenton, Williamston, Washington, New Bern – and finally reaching Wilmington before heading across the SC state line.
I think I’ll start looking for more old maps of Highway 17 -and the surrounding areas.
