37th Annual Virginia Wine Festival (The Plains, Virginia)

The longest running wine festival on the East Coast, the 37th Annual Virginia Wine Festival will be held on September 15-16.  This is a beautiful stretch along Highway 17, and I only wish I was going to be up in Virginia in mid-September!

Great Meadow Park is just a short detour off of Winchester Road (Highway 17) in The Plains, Virginia –  here’s what the festival has to say about Great Meadow:

“Located just a stone’s throw from route 66, and less than an hour from the bustle of Washington, DC and surrounding metropolitan areas, you’ll be immediately transported to the scenic beauty of the Virginia countryside. Stroll the flat, verdant grounds and sample from the fall harvest of Virginia’s finest wineries amidst the classic backdrop of a polo match! Listen to music, bask in the sun, shop from a wide array of Virginia craft and specialty foods vendors, and enjoy the Grand Commonwealth Tradition that is the Virginia Wine Festival.

Nestled in the heart of Virginia’s Piedmont countryside, Great Meadow is a 250-acre field events center and steeplechase course operated under stewardship of the Great Meadow Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of open space for community use.”

You can find out more about the Virginia Wine Festival at their website.
